the problem
If you’ve ever earned money through any kind of subscription-based site, you’ve probably noticed that they always take a slice.
Sometimes it’s a sensible slice, one you can tolerate for the benefits the platform brings. Okay. Sometimes it’s a juicy slice, one that leaves you feeling like you’re throwing your earnings from all your hard work away. Sometimes it’s worse again.
Either way, it’s always a slice off of what you’ve earned.
YOU build the audience 💪📈💪
YOU create the content 🎭🎨🌶️
YOU do the work 🧑💻😤🥵
THEY take the cut 💸😌💸
Not only that but you’re dependent on the rules and whims of the platform and it’s owners. You’re always one policy change or algorithm adjustment (buy our ads to get more views!!), or fee increase away from ceding more and more and more and more to them.
They say they’re empowering you.
They say they’re “Supporting the creators! 😊”
And instead they’re just digitally extorting you. Or being some kind of private digital taxman/landlord to maybe put it more kindly?
the cure
What if you could open up another line of revenue for your fans, followers and content consumers to subscribe to you directly?
Whatever your craft is, you’ll have those that want to see you, hear from you and give you their money. I built eew Subscriptions, a Stripe + Paypal native plugin designed to help content creators, teachers, instructors, writers and many others offer a direct link to their content, without the fees and other potential restrictions associated with other sites.
At the moment, this is a WordPress only solution. If you’re currently using a service such as Wix or Squarespace, here’s why WordPress is a better alternative.
how much could you potentially make back?
A WordPress site with eew Subscriptions setup could potentially earn you back a lot more than you’d think. Here are some examples based on a monthly income of £2000, across various platforms, compared to the payout you’d receive using eew Subscriptions and paying Stripe fees only. Keep in mind these are based on 100% of your subs moving across which is unlikely, but not unattainable. It’s mainly to give you an idea of where the ceiling could be for you:
| platform | cut + fees | Loss to fees (based on £2000/pm) | Loss to fees (based on £24,000/pa) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Onlyfans | 20% | £400/pm | £4,800/pa |
| Fansly / FanVue | ~15 – 20% | £300 – 400/pm | £3,600 – £4,800/pa |
| Passes | 10% | £200/pm | £2,400/pa |
| Twitch (standard creator split) | 50% | £1,000/pm | £12,000/pa |
| YouTube | 45% | £900/pm | £10,800/pa |
| TikTok | ~50% | ~£1,000/pm | ~£12,000/pa |
| Kick | 5% | £100/pm | £1,200/pa |
| Spotify Podcasts | ~50% | ~£1,000/pm | ~£12,000/pa |
| Substack | 10% + Stripe fees 3% | £260/pm | £3,120/pa |
| Patreon | 10% | £200/pm | £2,400/pa |
| eew Subscriptions + Your own WP site | 3% | £60/pm | £720/pa |
